Okuru Partner FAQs

Partner FAQs
Quick answers for businesses using the Okuru Partner Program
1. What is the Okuru Partner Program?
Okuru helps businesses offer digital gift cards and reach new customers through the Okuru marketplace. There are no setup fees or monthly subscription fees. Okuru earns a 7.5% commission when a customer purchases your Partner Gift Card through Okuru.
2. Who issues my Gift Cards?
Your business does. A Gift Card displaying your business name, brand or logo is your Partner Gift Card. Your business is responsible for honouring and redeeming it. Okuru provides the marketplace, payment and Gift Card technology.
3. How does it work?
We help you create your digital Gift Cards and list them through the Okuru marketplace. When a customer buys your Gift Card, Okuru retains 7.5% and you receive 92.5% of the Gift Card value, subject to payment and fraud checks. The customer then presents the Gift Card to your business and you redeem it using the free Okuru Partner App.
4. How and when do I get paid?
We ordinarily pay 92.5% of the Gift Card sale value to your nominated bank account within 7 business days, subject to successful payment, fraud checks, chargebacks, reversals and any agreed adjustments. Okuru covers the standard payment processing costs included in our 7.5% commission unless we agree otherwise in writing.
5. What does it cost to join?
Nothing upfront. There are no setup fees, monthly fees or subscription fees. Okuru earns its standard 7.5% commission only when a customer purchases your Partner Gift Card through the Okuru marketplace.
6. Can I use Okuru if I already offer Gift Cards?
Yes. Okuru can work alongside your existing Gift Card program. Think of Okuru as an additional sales and customer acquisition channel for your business.
7. How do customers redeem their Gift Cards?
Scan the customer's Gift Card QR code using the Okuru Partner App, confirm the Gift Card details, enter the amount being used and complete the redemption. Any supported unused balance remains on the Gift Card. If the purchase is more than the available balance, the customer can pay the difference using your normal payment methods.
8. What happens to the unused balance?
Where partial redemption is supported, the unused balance remains available on the customer's Partner Gift Card until used or until the Gift Card lawfully expires. Your business remains responsible for that unused balance.
9. How long are Partner Gift Cards valid?
Validity is subject to applicable law and any lawful terms shown for the Gift Card. In Australia, most Gift Cards are subject to statutory minimum expiry rules, with limited exceptions. Okuru will display the applicable expiry date or validity information.
10. What happens if I leave Okuru?
Gift Cards already sold remain your responsibility. Leaving the Partner Program or stopping use of the Partner App does not cancel outstanding valid Partner Gift Cards or unused balances.
11. What happens if I close, sell or transfer my business?
Please tell Okuru as early as possible. Outstanding Partner Gift Cards remain your responsibility unless another entity lawfully assumes them. If the business is sold or transferred, you must tell the purchaser about outstanding Gift Card obligations and let Okuru know what arrangements have been made.
12. What if I think I may not be able to honour my Gift Cards?
Tell us immediately. You should not continue offering new Partner Gift Cards if you know or reasonably expect that you will be unable to honour them. Okuru may temporarily pause new sales while the situation is resolved and will work with you to identify outstanding Gift Cards.
13. How should I account for Gift Card sales?
Because an unredeemed Gift Card represents an obligation to provide future goods or services, you should obtain your own accounting and tax advice about recording Gift Card proceeds, GST or other taxes, and outstanding balances. Okuru does not provide accounting or tax advice.
14. What happens if a customer disputes a payment or there is fraud?
Okuru may investigate, request information and, where reasonably supported by the transaction records, withhold, offset or recover amounts relating to fraud, chargebacks, reversals, refunds required by law, duplicate payments or amounts paid in error.
15. What do I get as an Okuru Partner?
You get your own Partner Portal, Gift Card sales and redemption tracking, the Okuru Partner App for redemptions, control over approved Gift Card denominations and redemption terms, and Okuru support when you need it.
16. How do I become an Okuru Partner?
